Berlin’s Museum of Islamic art reaches out to new audiences

Berlin’s Museum of Islamic art is vastly expanding.  The museum plans to reach out to non-Islamic people by “making sense of the present through the past”.

In this article, Stefan Weber, in charge of the expansion, seems to genuinely want to reach out to the German people and teach them about Muslim culture.  His ideas are big, but in my opinion he needs more support.  As previously posted, there is currently only one university in Germany that offers Islam studies, and a discussion has begun about the need for similar programs.  Perhaps in the future, once the universities do their part in creating Islam study programs, and the museum’s exhibit is complete, the German people will have a better understanding, or at least awareness, of the Muslim community.
