In a controversial move, German government officials agreed to purchase a particular CD at the cost of 2.5 million euros ($3.5 million) from a whistler-blower. On the CD is a list of alleged suspects who are said to have illegally hid money in Swiss bank accounts to avoid paying tax on such funds. Now the German government is asking such tax-dodgers to come forward voluntarily before the financial minister sets out to go after an estimated 1,500 alleged tax evaders.
A system of equality is key to every nation, and when someone stops paying taxes, they break this equality and say they are above the rest and the laws of the land. Such disrespect towards others should be punished and if necessary, paid private sources should be used to catch lawbreakers to stabilize the system of equality.
